Mountain Man's name is S. I talk to him somewhat regularly...less now than before, but still a few times a month. I think my phone automatically made him a favorite.
My brother-in-law's name is S. I see him at family things and when I go over, but very rarely do I have a need to email or text him. Holiday, party or fantasy football emails are about it. When I was on a trip with my sister and her family a few weeks ago, I did need to text and call my brother-in-law S about an item in the store, location, whatever.
During the trip, there was an incident when I was composing a text to Mountain Man, where I did not respond to a text, but rather took a picture and then sent it to him. But as I was typing in S....SI's name came up. They are listed a little different, one by full name, one by nickname. But I am SO glad I realized that before I hit send! It was a great scenic picture....but you don't send a random person a picture for no reason!
And a day later when I was calling my brother-in-law about a grocery item, I selected SI. I swear this never happened before, I don't think. I don't think I've ever accidentally called or texted him. Again, thank goodness the call didn't start and I actually looked at my phone before hitting the green button...because most times I just put the phone to my ear without looking.
So I started to wonder, why is SI still in my phone? Then I remembered....google syncs my contacts. So while I may have removed him from my phone the several times I got a different phone, he still ends up back there. Do I remove him from my email contacts? I don't know. I mean, sure, I have no need to talk to him, but I haven't deleted anyone in years...you never know when you need to contact someone. Do I still know his phone number? Yeah, the phone number he had when we were together will forever be stuck in my head...just as my childhood phone number or my aunt's number is. Maybe he doesn't even have it anymore and my almost accidental phone call and text wouldn't have been answered by a confused ex-boyfriend!
But what if he did answer? What if he answered and I had no idea I called him. Would he even believe that? And most likely I would have been like" him: "this is S." or "hello" me: "so, they don't have strawberry flavored, what is your next choice" or "I am all done, pull around and I'll hop in" or some other ridiculous in the moment conversation that would make no sense to someone I haven't talked to him years. He'd call me out on calling the wrong S...and I'd be left a few thoughts behind, stumbling, sounding not only embarrassed but flaky. Wrong impression. If I were to converse, it needs to be on my terms, when I have time to think, not be all confused!!
Maybe he would respond that I am a stalker and clearly not over him and I need to get a life. I think some of that was our last conversation...but funny thing was he initiated contacting me! Whatever happens, I doubt he'd be nice about it. He had a bit of an egotistical problem way back when.
Anyway, mistakes happen. I should end this post by going to my phone and removing him....just in case something like that happens again in the future.
But two different kinds of incidents only a month apart...what is going on universe???

like a bag of skittles
Looking through my closet this morning, I realized I haven't worn brown pants to work in over 6 months - and I have about 3 pairs of brown pants, so they've just been sitting there neglected. So, today I decided to give all the black and grey bottoms a rest and wear the brown with a very thin white stripe with a thin white sweater and small brown dangly earrings. The outfit would look really nice with the brown shoes I keep under my desk.
But nothing is that easy. I still have to get to work. The reason why I tend to neglect my brown pants is silly...I wear black 'commuting' shoes. All the pairs I've had in the last 6+ years are comfortable for walking (many times I walk about a mile to/from the train) but aren't sneakers. They are a little sleek looking. And unfortunately I've only found them in black, I wish I could find something similar in brown...I keep looking. I hate wearing brown and black together.
So, let's begin to visualize what I looked like so far: black sleek shoes, brown pants, white-ish top, earrings, curly hair.
On my way out the door, I thought it looked like it might downpour through the fog...so I grab my raincoat, which happens to be a fairly bright pink.
So, now I have on the black shoes, brown pants and a pink rain coat...you don't see the white-ish.
I grab my lunch and put it in my 90% of the time work bag - which is quite roomy for my lunch, wallet, a [real] decent sized book, a small umbrella, random papers, some mail, etc. The bag is great because it does not have a zipper, making it conform to what is inside, sort of. The problem with the bag is that it is deep purple. I didn't have time to get a different bag and repack everything.
So out the door I went, looking like a bag of skittles. Last month I mentioned about what not to wear...and here I was today, thinking that other people saw me on the streets probably thinking the same thing - I shouldn't be out in public looking like this!
black, brown, pink and purple...yikes.
I'd like to say that I could learn a lesson - go shopping and buy brown shoes, a less crazy colored raincoat and a new bag. But, I am so close to paying off the credit cards, that is it really the best thing to start buying things I don't really need?
I will try to wear brown pants when it is not raining, and maybe have a second bag nearby for easy change over for those brown days.

Plop
Today I felt like being a little spontaneous and accepted an invite to lunch from one of my co-workers since we get out a little early for summer Fridays. We picked a place close by that he wanted to try that good great reviews for the chicken pot pie; I ordered the chicken panini which had avocado, bacon and cheddar cheese with a side of salad. The panini was good after I pulled the lettuce off but he wasn't too keen on the chicken pot pie. It was still early so we decide to grab a drink. We had hoped to go to the Bryant Park Hotel for a drink, but they didn't open until 5pm so we ended up having a drink in the 98degree heat at Bryant Park. I sweat quite a bit, but it wasn't unbearable. We order a second drink this time in bottles since the tap beer wasn't so cold. I had to use the public restroom, which I was surprised with how clean it was. Anyways, so I go back to my drink and I start to feel my belly rumble, I also start to feel a little tipsy - perhaps because of being in the heat for about an hour. I head over to Grand Central knowing I needed to use the restroom, but my train was in 5 minutes, and decided getting home sooner would be better. Big mistake. I get on the train and felt light headed and couldn't really read by book. I start getting the goosebumps; you know what that means...an imminent need to poop.
I try to hold it in. I close my eyes and it works the goosebumps pass. I am counting the minutes/train stops. The ride seems to take forever. Then the goosebumps would return. I start to feel nauseous and worry that I won't make it home in time. Three stops before my stop I run to the train bathroom - my second time EVER to use the train bathroom. Thank goodness this was a relatively new train, so it was clean inside. I barely unbutton my pants, get in position and PLOP. It was super quick to come out and I was back in my seat before the next stop. Thank goodness, I was worried it was going to be so bad that I'd miss my stop. I leave the bathroom and wonder if the few passengers left would know I pooped...did the car now smell like shit? At least I was fast so hopefully a little less obvious. I get off and have to walk home knowing that I'd need a bathroom and wonder what would happen if I shit my pants? I mean, sure I'd probably throw it away...but walking might be a little tough for that short time. Unfortunately the pain and cramps didn't go away for a few hours.
I haven't felt a reaction like that from food in a while and I was not happy to relive that horrible feeling. It brought back many years ago when that seemed to be a common occurrence and all I can think about is thank goodness I cook for myself a lot and not have to deal with that.
Have you ever needed to use a train bathroom?
